Robins & Morton earns Eagle Award from Associated Builders and Contractors Mid-Tennessee
Associated Builders and Contractors of Mid-Tennessee honored Robins & Morton with an Eagle Award in the annual Excellence in Construction Awards.
The award-winning project was a $48 million renovation and addition to Longview Regional Medical Center in Longview, Texas. It began in July 2012 and was carried out amidst a fully operational hospital until its completion in March 2014.
While renovating the structure and replacing the mechanical system, the team also performed a vertical addition and constructed a new, three-story patient tower. The new additions totaled 114,710 square feet, and the renovations totaled 49,132 square feet.
Intricately phased relocations, infection control, night shifts and communication were essential in the success of this project, Robins & Morton project manager Jerrod Tipton said.
“Everyone had to understand together what we needed to accomplish,” Tipton said. “Once we had that, we all agreed the only way to succeed was as one team – with each of us taking responsibility to work towards our goal and leave individual interests aside. A flexible, open and accountable work environment was established from the start.”
