Medical University of South Carolina, Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and Pearl Tourville Women’s Pavilion

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) selected Robins & Morton/Cumming/Brownstone as the Construction Manager at Risk to provide preconstruction and construction services for the new $385 million Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and Pearl Tourville Women’s Pavilion. Located on the corner of Calhoun Street and Courtenay Drive in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, the 650,000-square-foot facility will consist of an 11-story bed tower, six-story diagnostic and treatment building, and will house approximately 250 patient beds. Services will include a neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric intensive care unit, labor and delivery unit, special care nursery and specialize children’s emergency services, upon completion in 2019.

National Association of Minority Contractors names Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital Project of the Year

The National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) South Carolina Chapter has recognized the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital as “Project of the Year Award.”

According to Allen Brown, marketing chair of the South Carolina chapter of NAMC, the award is based on three categories:  access, advocacy and capacity building.  Jean-Marc Villain, with MUSC Supplier Diversity, accepted the award on behalf of the medical university.
