Description: The project consisted of two separate sections: the addition to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Employee Child Development Center and the re-clad of the existing structure. The addition provided three separate storm shelter rooms. These rooms are used daily as a large indoor playroom and two child sick care rooms, each equipped with their own restrooms, impact resistant glass, and FEMA rated grilles and dampers for fresh air in case of power outage. The remainder of the addition consisted of a new main electrical room for the entire facility, laundry room, office space and a new lobby. The exterior is a mix of utility sized brick and metal panels. Also as an addition, there is a new security fenced outside area with a garden area and mulched play area.
The second portion of the project which was the re-clad of the existing building, had to be done on nights and weekends and around the facility schedule. The building consisted of both flat and sloping roof with an EFIS façade. All EIFS was removed and replaced with a utility sized thin brick and metal panels to match the addition materials. The asphalt roofs were replaced with metal roof panels and the flat roofs received new TPO membrane roofing.
