Description: The 175,000 square foot Carolinas Medical Center - Lincoln Hospital is a 101-bed replacement hospital. Carolinas Medical Center - Lincoln used an Integrated Delivery Approach. Using the IPD approach, the earlier involvement of primary subs brought a higher level of accuracy to early estimates and allowed better ways to have a more effective cost management processes that better maintained the original intent of design and systems. The project is implementing many sustainable features including: outdoor courtyards, connect corridors, waiting areas and food service to the outdoors, use of daylight in patient, family and staff areas, low VOC finishes and furnishings, highly reflective roof to reduce the heat island effect, reclaiming over 300,000 bricks from demolition of a local textile mill, reusing existing equipment, restoring wetlands and using rain gardens to filter run-off and recycling more than 84% of construction waste.
