Description: The UAB Medical West MOB and Ambulatory Surgery Center is a 5 story, concrete structure facility in Bessemer, Alabama, roughly 20 miles west of downtown Birmingham. The 110,000 SF, $17.2 million facility sits within 15 feet of the existing hospital, which made for very tight working conditions. The ground floor holds the 20,000 SF ASC. Included in the ASC are four OR rooms, pre-op holding beds, post-op holding beds, sterilizer rooms, business office, and patient waiting room. The upper floors of the MOB are built-out as separate doctors’ offices, with the fifth floor housing a 15,000 SF End Stage Renal Disease Center. This project won a North Alabama ABC Excellence in Construction – Eagle Award
