Description: When space constraints and layout inefficiencies became too much of a burden for administration, staff and patients of Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center, the hospital board of trustees turned to Robins & Morton to construct a $26 million, 152 square foot, state-of-the-art facility just outside of the city. The single-story structure developed on a 40-acre site was designed to complement the rich architectural traditions and indigenous landscape of New Mexico. To ensure the project's budget and deadline were met; all project team members assembled early in the design process to jointly plan the facility. This move paid off, allowing the owner to apply almost $3 million in savings towards additional projects on the campus. Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center was recognized with the SOUTHWEST Building Team Project Award, Grand Award Institution by Building Design & Construction.
