Description: ABC of North Alabama Excellence in Construction Awards, Excellence Winner, Commercial $2-5 Million, Rockwell Collins Flex Building houses an office and manufacturing space under one roof, Rockwell Collins is an aerospace and defense contractor that leases the building to house a Transportable Black Hawk Operations Simulator and helicopter avionics architecture systems, Six month construction schedule, Completed six weeks early and under budget. Robins & Morton completed the new $3.4 million Rockwell Collins Flex Building for Developer Crown Leasing in May 2008, after less than six months of construction. Rockwell Collins, an aerospace and defense contractor, leases the 30,000 sq. ft. from Crown Leasing. The facility is home to Rockwell Collins’ T-BOS, or Transportable Black Hawk Operations Simulator and its helicopter avionics architecture systems, which serve Army aircraft. Robins & Morton self performed 27% of the project’s work, including concrete, rough carpentry, doors, hardware, and toilet accessories. The structure is comprised of a steel frame on shallow foundations. It is clad with precast facade.
