Description: Since 1988, Georgetown Hospital Systems (GHS) has experienced rapid expansion in response to the explosive growth of the surrounding communities. Throughout this growth period, Robins & Morton has completed 20+ construction projects for Georgetown that total more than $100 Million. One such project is Waccamaw Community Hospital which provides advanced medical services to the residents of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. The 190,000 square foot, $34.3 million facility completed in October, 2002. Robins and Morton completed several other projects at Waccamaw including the Waccamaw Medical Park Imaging Center, which is a two-story, 27,300 square foot building that houses an Imaging Center and Women's Center. The Imaging Center offers MRI, CT Scan and X-Ray services, with the potential for Nuclear Medicine in the future. The Women's Center offers mammography, breast biopsy, and exam/treatment services. In August 2008, Robins & Morton finished a $19 million 52,055 sq. ft. vertical expansion to the original hospital building. The expansion included a patient holding area and renovations to the nursery, imaging and surgery support areas. Designed by Curtis Group Architects, construction was completed in less than fourteen months.
