Robins & Morton recognized in ENR Southeast Annual Project Excellence Awards

In the 2014 ENR Southeast Annual Project Excellence Awards, Robins & Morton claimed two Awards of Merit for projects at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla., and CARBO Line 1 Grassroots Ceramic Proppant Facility in Millen, Ga. The Mayo Clinic project received the award in the Healthcare category and CARBO in the Electrical/Industrial category.


Mayo Clinic Expansion
Jacksonville, Fla.

  • Expansion/renovation project
  • Expanded the existing hospital by two floors, totaling 112,000 square feet
  • Added 92 additional beds and expanded patient care service areas capacity
  • Renovating 20,000 square feet
  • Replaced mechanical systems, elevators and staircases

  • Zero lost time incidents


  • Keeping the busiest acute care hospital operational while performing the renovation and addition
  • Intricate phasing and relocation
  • Limiting noise and disruption to the patients throughout healing

CARBO Ceramics
Millen, Ga.

November 2011- June 2014

Project facts:

  • EPC services including: Three baghouses, rotary kilns and cooler, centrifuges, spray dryers, compressors, kiln stack, centrifugal slurry pumps, fabricated duct work, prefabricated electrical buildings and emergency generator
  • After completing this project successfully, CARBO chose Robins & Morton to complete Line 2 of the facility


  • 450 workers cycled in and out
  • 635,149 hours worked
  • Zero Recordables and lost time


  • Partnered with local schools to donate school supplies
  • Sponsored a series of events to engage students and promote career opportunities in construction
  • Delivered Thanksgiving meals to 100 local families
