Robins & Morton Tops Out Phoebe Digestive Disease Center in Albany, Georgia.

In building construction “topping out” is a ceremony held when the last beam is placed at the top of a building.

Construction of the Phoebe Digestive Disease Center on Meredyth Drive represents $30 million that Phoebe Putney Health System is reinvesting into the community.

The facility will expand the hospital’s Gastroenterology capabilities. The construction project also brings almost 400 construction-related jobs.

Completion of the 85,000-square-foot facility is expected Fall 2012.

Robins & Morton is the general contractor handling the project.

The new facility is just one of the expansions or acquisitions that adds to Phoebe’s empire. Their new Americus hospital officially opens Friday, and Phoebe will officially take over its former Albany competition, Palmyra Medical Center, the same day.
