With company-wide policies like our Jobsite Waste Management Policy and Sustainable Jobsites Policy, we are looking to the future to make sustainable jobsite measures an routine part of our company culture. Our Sustainable Jobsites Policy details cost-neutral, yet highly effective activities that are implemented on every jobsite. The sustainable strategies within the policy target water savings, minimization of energy usage, smart selection of materials, protection of human health, and education of the team.
Our Jobsite Waste Management Policy was created to minimize our share of the 160 million tons of building-related construction and demolition debris generated per year. Our policy requires each jobsite to create and implement a waste diversion plan appropriate for the project, location, and budget. As the diversion market varies by location, so do our project’s diversion totals; however, many of our projects are able to divert upwards of 80% of jobsite waste from local landfills.
These policies serve as our foundation for sustainable construction; a foundation which is exceptionally helpful for our projects pursuing United States Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification. Robins & Morton recognizes and utilizes LEED Rating Systems as valuable standards for measuring a project’s operational performance and sustainable characteristics. Our 60+ LEED Accredited Professionals and Green Associates are available to staff our LEED projects and have been trained to target, execute, and achieve feasible and cost-effective LEED credits. Robins & Morton is a USGBC Gold Member and Certified Education Provider and have numerous employees serving on local and state USGBC chapters and ABC’s National Green Building Committee. Due to our experience and success with LEED and Green Globes projects, ENR continues to rank Robins & Morton as one of the Top 100 Green Contractors in the nation.
