Robins & Morton is entering into the 8(a) mentor protégé program with Birmingham Industrial
Construction (BIC)
. BIC is an 8 (a) SDB, MBE, SDVOSBC verified (CVE), minority-owned small business. They are a full service construction firm that focuses on providing general and design-bid-build construction services to federal agencies throughout the Southeast. Their previous experience ranges in scope from small to large scale site preparation, earthwork, demolition, new construction, renovations, environmental services, HVAC/Mechanical Services and emergency response. BIC’s contracting personnel have the necessary experience to perform new construction, tenant improvements, and remodels of public, commercial, and industrial buildings.

Robins & Morton is also entering into the SBA mentor protégé program with Slade L.E.T. Planning. ( Slade was established in 2006, and is multidiscipline planning, environmental consulting, project management, community development, and development firm. The firm is 100% woman minority owned business. They are certified as an 8(a), HubZone, DBE, MBE, EDWOSB and WBENC small business. They have various certifications with LEED accredited professionals and Qualified Credential Inspectors on staff. They also have established various certifications from the EPA. Slade offers Environmental & Civil Professional Services, Geotechnical and Hydrology Studies, LEED, Lead, Asbestos, and Phase I, II, III Investigations, facility condition assessment, Obtain NPDES Permits, Conducts QCP QCI Inspections, Preparation of NEPA EIS, EA, CE, CIA, Brownfield Redevelopment, Public Involvement, Residential and Commercial Site Planning, and Construction and Program Management.

Past Successes
We have received high reviews on our small business utilization at VA Audie L. Murphy Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center in San Antonio, Texas, where we have exceeded all of our required subcontracting goals and requirements. Robins & Morton partnered with a human resource development firm and several veterans organizations to include AMVAH – San Antonio, TX MSA Veterans Referral Sources, United States Veterans Affairs Office – Department of Veteran Vocational Rehab (Nation Wide Veterans Affairs Program), American GI Forum –Veteran Outreach – San Antonio Office (Texas Veterans Affairs Program), Alamo Workforce Solutions Center –San Antonio (Texan Veterans Affairs Program) & This effort was initially focused on hiring craft and labor workers, and extended to the subcontractor workforce and goals and results were formally discussed during weekly foreman meetings. Over 35 veterans were employed on the project, and we exceeded our overall small business subcontracting goals by nearly 200%!
