West Kendall Baptist Hospital
The construction of West Kendall Baptist Hospital was the Orlando office’s first project in the Miami market and has helped us continue to perform in the South Florida market. The West Kendall Baptist Hospital project was a 288,000-square-foot 134-bed teaching hospital with surgical, emergency, maternity and diagnostic units. Construction of this hospital represented the first completely new, non-replacement hospital built in Miami in more than 35 years. West Kendall Baptist Hospital was built to withstand a Category 5 hurricane with winds of 180 mph. The building is self-sustainable for a minimum of five days following a severe weather event. The project also included a freestanding, four-story, 63,000 square-foot building for physician offices with an outpatient diagnostic and imaging center on the first floor, as well as a 20,000-square-foot Central Energy Plant. When completed, West Kendall Baptist Hospital was also the second LEED Gold certified healthcare facility in Florida.
