Novant South Charlotte Medical Center

Project Info

Novant Health is constructing a medical facility in south Charlotte to serve the growing community in this area. The facility will be a total of 222,900 SF that will include a 48 bed community hospital totaling 172,000 SF and a 50,900 SF medical office building. The site sits at the Southeast corner of Johnston Road and Providence Road West. This site is at the heart of the population growth with Ballantyne shops one mile to the north and flourishing residential development to the south. Novant Health will be able to support the healthcare needs of the local community with this project.

The facility will sit at the high point on the site creating a strong presence in the area.  From the main intersection, individuals will look up toward the facility and see the embrace of the building on its surroundings.  The design of the campus carefully considers site topography, views to the existing pond, connectivity to adjoining neighborhoods, and ease of wayfinding to create a special place for patients, staff, and the public. The following major guiding principles were at the center of the team’s efforts throughout the process:

  • Patient focused, state of the art community medical center
  • Engage the community in use of the site and services offered
  • Expandability for future community needs
  • Exterior aesthetics to complement nearby architecture and designed for the future
  • Incorporate natural light for the benefit of all users of the facility
  • Intuitive wayfinding and ease of access

The design and construction of the Novant Health Ballantyne Medical Center Campus is part of the vision to provide the best healthcare for the Charlotte community and the surrounding area.

Material Delivery

With limited access to our site, we ask that trade contractors proactively coordinate receiving and unloading materials, as well as make provisions to store them through Robins & Morton. Materials are to be delivered and stored on site in accordance with the OPS. Early delivery of material will not be accepted. No material will be stored within the building. All stored material must be organized neatly and stored off the ground (i.e. on pallets, racks, gang boxes, etc.). Each trade contractor will be responsible for their own material hoisting (forklift /crane). Please coordinate with Robins & Morton crane operator to allow for daily lifting of supplies.
