Location: Opelika, Alabama

Architect: Payne Lee & Associates

Description: Soon after the Opelika High School Class of 2012 graduated, Robins & Morton started construction on the expansion and renovation of Opelika High School. The three-phase project was needed to expand and renovate the existing facility, which had outlived its use. Originally built in 1972, it took two years to transform the school into one of Alabama's most impressive high schools, including touch-screen technology in classroom, the renovation of "Main Street," the addition of two courtyards and a new athletic complex unmatched in the state. Approximately 180,000 square feet of the existing structure was removed and more than 200,000 square feet was rebuilt. In 2014, ABC of Alabama named the project an Obelisk Award (first place) winner in the annual Excellence in Construction Awards.
