Robins & Morton, Huntsville Hospital Health System Break Ground on $30M Freestanding Emergency Department in North Huntsville

Construction firm Robins & Morton joined Huntsville Hospital Health System on Oct. 21 to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new $30 million North Huntsville Freestanding Emergency Department. The project represents the largest healthcare investment ever made in North Huntsville.

The new facility will provide 24/7 emergency care for families in North Huntsville and surrounding communities, including Meridianville and Hazel Green. It will be staffed by board-certified physicians and equipped with advanced diagnostic imaging, including CT and ultrasound technology, on-site laboratory services, and a helipad. Patients who require hospitalization or more specialized care can be transferred to an appropriate hospital for continued treatment.

“Our responsibility is to make sure people have access to the care they need, when and where they need it,” said Tracy Doughty, executive vice president of Madison County operations for HH Health. “North Huntsville is growing, and this is an important step in making sure emergency services keep pace with the community. We’re bringing the resources and expertise of Huntsville Hospital closer to the patients and families who depend on us.”

“Breaking ground on this freestanding emergency department reflects Huntsville Hospital’s continued commitment to meeting the growing healthcare needs of North Huntsville and the surrounding communities,” Robins & Morton Division Manager Mitch Coley said. “Robins & Morton is honored to partner with Huntsville Hospital Health System on a facility that will expand access to emergency care, strengthen the region’s healthcare infrastructure, and help ensure patients receive timely, high-quality care closer to home.”

The project is scheduled to be completed in December 2027.

Robins & Morton is the general contractor. Chapman Sisson Architects is the architect.
