HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital has completed phase one of its $60 million expansion and renovation project that increases the hospital’s capacity and broadens its offerings. Officially open to the public on May 13, the project included expanding critical care units by 12 rooms, increasing the number of pre-operative treatment areas to 43 bays, renovation of the main lobby, waiting rooms and registration areas and the addition of a chapel and coffee shop. The coffee shop will be occupied by Los Dos Christianos Coffee in June. Patients and visitors can now find the main entrance off Olean Boulevard.
The entire project includes 40,000 square feet of new space and 20,000 of renovated space. Phase two will include expansion to the hospital’s operating room capacity from 10 to 12 suites and is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2024.
“We’re very excited to have completed the first phase of this major expansion, which will help ensure we can continue to meet the healthcare needs of our growing community,” said Michael Ehrat, chief executive officer at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital. “As a hospital, construction projects present unique challenges as we balance the needs of our patients, colleagues, and visitors. The team at Robins & Morton were very supportive of our goals and we appreciate their expertise in executing a successful expansion and renovation to our facility.”
“We are grateful to HCA Florida for trusting us with delivering this important project, increasing healthcare services to our Charlotte County community,” Robins & Morton Operations Manager David Skipper said. “We look forward to seeing the lasting, positive impact this project will have for many years to come.”
