Construction firm Robins & Morton joined AdventHealth on Oct. 22 to celebrate the grand opening of AdventHealth Riverview, the health system’s newest greenfield hospital, marking a significant next step in providing high-quality healthcare for the rapidly growing communities in South Hillsborough County.
The new 282,000-square-foot facility opens with 82 beds, with plans to ultimately expand to 202 beds to meet the needs of the growing community. AdventHealth Riverview provides essential services such as emergency care, cardiology, labor and delivery, as well as bariatrics, general surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, spine surgery, and more.
Currently, only 60% of the hospital is built out to care for patients. The remaining 40 percent will be for future growth, expanding based on the needs of the community.
AdventHealth Riverview is more than a state-of-the-art regional hospital — it will be a major job creator, employing more than 2,000 people, contributing to the economic development of South Hillsborough County and attracting top talent to the area.
“We are honored to bring our mission of whole-person care to the Riverview community,” said Jason Newmyer, president and CEO of AdventHealth Riverview. “With the anticipated population growth in South Hillsborough, we are excited to open our doors and serve the local community with compassionate care that focuses on healing mind, body, and spirit.”
When it comes to emergency services, AdventHealth Riverview features a full-service rooftop helipad to accommodate AdventHealth AirStar 1, the health system’s newest medical helicopter in the region.
Robins & Morton, the construction firm behind the hospital’s build, has played a vital role in the project’s completion.
“We are incredibly proud to celebrate the completion of this state-of-the-art healthcare facility, which stands as a testament to our commitment to excellence for our longtime partner AdventHealth and our dedication to the well-being of our community,” Robins & Morton Florida Division Manager Todd Watson said. “We look forward to seeing this hospital serve the healthcare needs of our community for generations to come.”
The architect for the project is HuntonBrady, bringing their experience in designing forward-thinking healthcare facilities.
