Construction firm Robins & Morton has begun work on Atrium Health Concord Freestanding Emergency Department in Concord, North Carolina.
The 11,021-square-foot project is being built entirely using modular construction. This offsite construction method produces an entire building in large modules – individual sections or units – that are then transported to the site, assembled, and finished.
This approach offers several advantages, including faster project timelines, improved quality control, reduced onsite workforce, reduced waste, and minimized site disruption. Because much of the work occurs simultaneously – site preparation and module fabrication – projects can often be completed more quickly than with traditional construction methods.
The 10-bed facility will be completed in early 2026.
“Innovative delivery methods empower us to reimagine what’s possible – streamlining collaboration, accelerating schedules, and delivering exceptional value for our clients and communities,” Robins & Morton Operations Manager Marshall Scott said. “We look forward to seeing the lasting, positive impact this facility will have on our community for many years ahead.”
Robins & Morton is the general contractor for the project. Blox is the architect and manufacturer.
