Robins & Morton Celebrates Groundbreaking of Spartanburg Joint Government Center

Construction firm Robins & Morton celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Spartanburg Joint Government Center on Dec. 11 in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

The five-story, 200,000-square-foot joint complex will contain the existing administrative functions located at the County Administration Building and City Hall, as well as a new council chamber and outdoor areas for public use. The joint county-city complex will be the first of its kind in South Carolina.

The project also includes a parking garage that will hold about 1,000 spaces.

“We are excited to begin work on this project that will serve the residents of our community for many years to come,” Robins & Morton Project Director Caleb Chandler said. “Robins & Morton has called Spartanburg home for more than a decade, recently completing the beautiful Fifth Third Park, and we appreciate the wonderful partnership we have with the county and city as we build this facility.”

The project is expected to be completed in 2027.

Robins & Morton is the general contractor for the project and Clerestory Projects Group is the project manager. David M. Schwarz Architects and McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture are the architects.
