Robins & Morton, City of Gadsden Celebrate Groundbreaking of Gadsden Athletic Center

Construction firm Robins & Morton joined the City of Gadsden on May 1 to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Gadsden Athletic Center.

The $70 million state-of-the-art complex will include a two-story, 120,000-square-foot comprehensive recreation center and a sports field development. It will serve as a hub for community athletics, recreation, and events, supporting a wide range of sports and wellness activities.

“The Gadsden Athletic Center will be a top-notch facility that is going to improve our quality of life in Gadsden while also benefitting our local economy,” said Gadsden Mayor Craig Ford. “We’re excited about what this project means for the future of our city, and we’re appreciative of everyone that is working with us to make this dream become reality.”

Robins & Morton is the general contractor for the project. Chambless King Architects is the architect.

“The groundbreaking of the Gadsden Athletic Center marks an exciting milestone for the City of Gadsden and its residents,” Construction Program Management Division Manager Steve Olson said. “This project represents more than just new facilities — it’s an investment in the health, vitality, and future of our community. At Robins & Morton, we are honored to partner with the city to bring this vision to life.”

The project is scheduled to be completed in 2027.
