Description: Robins & Morton and joint venture partner Hostetter and Keach completed construction on a new patient tower and emergency department for Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, North Carolina.
The new 31,760 square foot Emergency Department is nearly three times as large as the existing Emergency Department. Thirty treatment rooms, all of them private, will include two large trauma rooms. The Emergency Department also will have an expansive reception area,and radiology equipment to reduce waiting time for emergency patients who require X-rays. Today the Emergency Department is treating about 50,000 patients yearly.
The new patient tower will include an entire floor (35,314 square feet) for medical/surgical beds and pediatric services. All rooms in the new patient tower will be private. Another floor will house the Women’s and Children’s Center which includes labor and delivery, postpartum rooms, a Level II nursery and two C-sections suites. The fourth floor has 33,055 square feet (including mechanicals) for Education & Wellness, including a kitchen for diabetes education, and the region’s Area Health Education Center. The rooftop has landing pad for transporting critically ill or injured patients by helicopter.
