Description: Following the successful construction of Sierra Providence East Medical Center in El Paso (opened in 2008) by Robins & Morton of Birmingham, Ala., Tenet Healthcare Corporation invited the contractor to provide preconstruction and general contracting services for the facility’s $43.8 million South Tower and Emergency Department Expansion project. The project includes the construction of a 120,000 square foot, four-story bed tower; a 19,000 square foot addition to the emergency department; and additional renovations to other portions of the hospital. The project will expand the hospital to more than 451,000 square feet, and will include a 60 bed patient tower, CT scanning, cardiology and case management, a new intensive care unit, and a supporting mechanical room. The first floor of the tower expansion includes an administrative area with a new board room, a lecture hall, computer room, two educational classroom areas and a gift shop. Additional work includes a new cafeteria and an outdoor courtyard with sunshades and additional parking sunshades at the doctors parking area. The project also includes the addition of 51 parking spaces.
