The Jupiter Medical Center Tim and Jayne Donahue Patient Care Tower is a transformative addition to the Jupiter, Florida, campus, featuring a five-story, 139,071-square-foot patient tower and a 284,375-square-foot parking deck. This $135 million project expands the hospital’s capacity by 92 beds, enhancing oncology, cardiovascular, and orthopedic services, and introduces a state-of-the-art Clinical Simulation Center for advanced training. The parking garage, with 845 spaces, supports the growing needs of the campus and its patients, staff, and visitors, ensuring accessibility and convenience for all.
Throughout construction, the project team faced significant challenges, including the relocation of a transformer that conflicted with the building’s foundation, necessitating complex campus-wide utility shutdowns and re-feeds. To overcome schedule constraints and site logistics, Robins & Morton implemented extensive prefabrication strategies, such as exterior wall panels, unitized curtain wall systems, and prefabricated electrical home-run racks. These solutions not only mitigated risks but also accelerated key phases of work, allowing the project to finish four months ahead of schedule.
Robins & Morton’s leadership was instrumental in the project’s success, leveraging deep familiarity with Jupiter Medical Center’s operations, campus infrastructure, and expectations. The company’s proactive approach to early trade contractor engagement, phased turnover planning, and hands-on management ensured seamless coordination and minimized disruptions to ongoing hospital activities. The result is a patient care tower that not only meets the client’s vision for expanded, innovative healthcare but also stands as a testament to the value of experienced, collaborative construction management in delivering complex healthcare environments on time and within budget.
