In the Tampa, Florida, suburb of Riverview, AdventHealth partnered with its long-time construction provider Robins & Morton to deliver a new four-story, 85-bed hospital with an attached medical office building.
This would be the first full-service hospital in Riverview, and the demographic data indicated that the construction venture was well-timed. From 2017 to 2023, the city’s population grew by 26.4%, and healthcare close to home had never been more critical.
From a construction standpoint, this project was unique for several reasons — its design was the most significant. To accommodate current needs and future growth while also leveraging more cost-effective methods and materials, the project was built using an innovative 200-bed prototypical design. The prototypes are designed to be concrete, using the tilt-wall construction. Because of this specification, the facilities cannot expand vertically in the future and must expand horizontally instead. To provide that flexibility, Architect HuntonBrady designed a crescent-shaped building with long, straight wings on the backside of the radius to house the beds.
The team overcame countless obstacles, but delivered Riverview’s first hospital with unparalleled quality, in record time.
