Longleaf at Liberty Park

Atlanta-based Braemar Partners – in partnership with Greenbrier Senior Living – had a vision to build a new senior living facility in the scenic Liberty Park neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama. This facility would provide a variety of living options ranging from assisted living, memory care, to respite care, a unique offering that provides short-term care for seniors while their caretakers are away. To make their plans a reality, they selected Robins & Morton to manage the facility’s construction.

Although scenic, the site selected for construction led to a few constructability challenges. In the early stages of construction, the team had to mitigate significant elevation logistics and work with a variety of specialty engineers to ensure the hillside excavation wouldn’t negatively impact the site. Additionally, the facility’s location along the Cahaba River – the source of one-fifth of Alabama’s drinking water – also required stringent erosion control measures. Team members also faced one of the wettest winters on record in the region while performing foundational construction. The Robins & Morton team expertly maneuvered the weather and site challenges, concluding the project with zero impacts to the Cahaba and zero lost time or recordable incidences.

Now open, the 95-bed senior care facility offers multiple dining venues, a senior-focused fitness center, salon, day spa, sports lounge, library, arts studio and onsite movie theater. It stands three floors and spans 85,000 square feet, furnished with southern-chic inspired décor.
