Nor-Lea Hospital District wanted to expand their services to include certain preventative health measures. To accomplish this, they’d need to provide the Lovington, New Mexico, community with a new wellness center. By providing access to more comprehensive fitness resources, the hospital believed they could help combat the high rates of heart disease, chronic respiratory disease and stroke present in the population. To help carry out their plan, Nor-Lea tapped longtime partner, Robins & Morton, to manage the construction of the facility.
Now open, the 40,000-square-foot center features a competition-sized pool, therapy pool, full-sized basketball court, walking track, climbing wall, free weights, exercise machines and group fitness classes. The center also offers childcare to provide flexibility for members’ busy schedules. Within the first few days of opening, the center had 500 registered members with numbers growing each day, proving the community’s desire for an upgraded facility, focused on wellness.
