Robins & Morton completed the Okaloosa Gas District Headquarters, a 201,140-square-foot greenfield campus in Valparaiso, Florida. The project includes a four-story Class A office building, an operations center, a vehicle maintenance building, and a warehouse. The campus consolidates the client’s operations into a single location and reflects Okaloosa Gas District’s identity as a community-oriented public utility, featuring a full-service restaurant open to the public, an outdoor courtyard, and dedicated event spaces.
Proximity to the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport and Eglin Air Force Base introduced significant acoustic and airspace constraints. The team coordinated directly with FAA and Air Force air traffic control to adapt crane strategies for restricted airspace, ultimately selecting a flat-top tower crane that saved cost and improved workflow. Workforce availability in the tourism-driven market required the team to draw on regional relationships and deploy self-perform crews for concrete, drywall, and other trades, maintaining schedule momentum throughout construction.
Robins & Morton’s experienced leadership was a defining advantage on this project. The self-perform concrete effort included erecting 120 tilt-wall panels in eight days and using drone technology to map post-tension cable locations before every pour, producing a precise as-built record for the client. Strong coordination across safety, schedule, and budget, from preconstruction through completion, kept the project on track at every phase.
