UltraStar Multi-tainment Center at Harrah’s Cherokee

As Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Resort in Cherokee, North Carolina, continued to experience growth, they wanted to expand their facility to include more family-friendly activities for visitors and locals alike. After partnering with UltraStar Multi-tainment Centers, the plans were set to begin construction on a bowling alley, arcade and entertainment venue addition. As planning progressed, the leadership team decided they would need to break ground in fall 2016 and open by the following Labor Day.

When Robins & Morton came onboard, the team realized several challenges: the schedule was tight for a two-story, 53,000-square-foot facility and the addition’s tie-in was going to be extremely difficult. With quick project mobilization and impeccable scheduling, the Robins & Morton team performed the bulk of construction – foundations to Certificate of Occupancy – in only seven months.

Now complete, the addition houses 55 arcade games, a full-service restaurant, three bars, an event stage and a bowling center with 24 lanes; 16 on the main level and eight on the second floor. Sixty-two screens line the walls of the restaurant, the bowling lanes, the billiards area and the outdoor patio for the sports fan’s ideal viewing experience. There is also a large, 260-square-foot, drop-down screen available on the event stage for use when no live entertainment is squared, as well as a 185-square-foot, dual-sided screen that hovers over the main bar.

This project received both a regional and national Excellence in Construction Award from Associated Builders and Contractors.
