Description: The new Auburn University Kinesiology Department facility, designed to meet the varied interests and needs of faculty and students in exercise science, physical education and health teacher education, offers nearly 58,000 square feet of research and office space for the College of Education’s Department of Kinesiology. The building houses laboratories conducting a broad range of research relating to human movement, health and performance. The first floor of the new three-level facility houses space for the department’s biomechanics and motor behavior laboratories. The motor behavior lab, which focuses a significant portion of its research on physical activity in children, opens onto a green space for outdoor activity. The second floor houses epidemiology and exercise behavior labs, as well as the department’s TigerFit program, which provides health screenings and fitness assessments. The third floor features controlled-access space for muscle physiology, cardioprotection, neuromechanics, sports optimization and thermal labs.
