Otto Kaiser enlisted the expertise of Robins & Morton when they decided to replace their current hospital in the rural community of Kenedy, Texas, with a new, a 25-bed, 105,000-square-foot healthcare facility. This partnership began when the hospital embarked on a significant expansion project, constructing a new facility in front of the existing hospital on a spacious nine-acre site.

Despite heavy competition for skilled craft workers due to the fracking boom nearby, record rain and extremely poor soil conditions, Robins & Morton completed the Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital and Wellness Center replacement in Kenedy, Texas, on time, within budget, with no lost time or recordable injuries, and while also saving the owner money in value analysis/engineering and budget management.

The new hospital was meticulously designed to cater to the needs of the community, featuring state-of-the-art amenities and services. It includes dedicated spaces for inpatient and outpatient surgery, various clinical departments, physical therapy services, an imaging department, recovery rooms, an endoscopy suite, and a central sterile supply. The facility was thoughtfully planned to ensure a comfortable and efficient environment for both patients and medical professionals.

Recognizing the importance of wellness and rehabilitation, a 15,000-square-foot wellness center was also constructed on the hospital campus. This center provides rehabilitation services and education for patients while also extending its offerings to the wider community. The wellness center boasts a cutting-edge therapy pool and a fully equipped gymnasium, allowing individuals to access top-notch facilities for their health and well-being.

Throughout the project, Robins & Morton demonstrated their expertise in managing complex construction projects. They seamlessly connected the site infrastructure to the existing mains at the highway, ensuring efficient operations and utility connections. Following the completion of the new facility, Robins & Morton continued their partnership with Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital by repurposing a section of the existing facility into a Medical Office Building. This conversion allowed the hospital to maximize its existing resources and provide additional medical services to the community.
